    International Women’s Day…..?

    Written By: Eiman shah

It would have been worth or far more better if provincial government of Gilgit Baltistan would have announced a worth package for protection of women rights by taking some serious steps or just by formatting a committee who could setup recommendations for a separate transportation system especially for those women who go to their offices, schools, colleges and for those who sweat their blood to support their families.
Unlike other countries and all over Pakistan, people In Gilgit will also celebrate Women day but unfortunately in big, expensive hotels where only elites will be invited and especially those elite women who are not even aware of what problems are common women going through and to what degree they are suffering without having even a basic necessities to grow. And Of course, those lavishly dressed women shall not want to see those women, walking towards the river to wash off all those clothes holding on their backs. Why? Because no one cares about them!!
Moreover, you will not see any kind of shame or regret on the faces of those elite women attending that party on how hard situations are those women going through when they miss the wagon and stay there for the next one to get to work. Even there are many women in Gilgit who reserves higher seats to work for the welfare of women but unfortunately, they don’t have the moral courage to put forward a contract in legislative assembly for the supply of public transport for women.
As we Celebrate women’s day to appreciate all the contributions of women for the welfare and development of their countries. So let’s talk about Dadi jawari, one of the rulers of Gilgit 500 years ago, and was famous for her courage, bravery, and determination. She won the hearts of people by adopting all the qualities of a good ruler. She showed the flag by her actions not just by giving words. One of her great contributions was the supply of water from karagha nala to Gilgit city, through the constructing a canal.
I think if we will have governors like Dadi jawari, then that time is not so far when our country has been transformed into a heaven and a land full of opportunities!!
