British Airways’ has confirmed that its first 787-8 Dreamliner will land in Pakistan on June 2, 2019, to officially mark the start of British Airways operations in Pakistan.

The airline stopped operating in Pakistan around 10 years ago and is returning after assessing the security situation in the country.

The United Kingdom’s flag carrier will fly from London to Islamabad three times a week with a fare of £447 including all charges and taxes, told the airline spokesperson.

Excited to re-start its operations in Pakistan, British Airways will begin operations in Islamabad and other cities subject to clearance of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The spokesperson attributed the resumption of flights to ‘great improvements in the security situation in Pakistan’.

Happy to be adding another destination in South Asia for its customers, British Airways spokesperson hailed Islamabad as a cultural hub with great attractions.

Before British Airways revoked its operations – due to a suicide bombing in Marriot Hotel Islamabad – in the country, the airline offered six flights a week between Islamabad and London.

Overseas Pakistanis in Britain lauded the resumption of the route from London to Islamabad, saying that British Airways will provide comfortable services to the passengers while creating healthy competition for other airlines.

With 1.5 million British Pakistanis living in the UK, this was the right time to show a good gesture between the two countries, said the Chairman of World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis Naheed Randhawa.
