The EvK2CNR association on Wednesday presented in a workshop at Gilgit Baltistan House, in Islamabad, its contribution to the management of protected areas and the future prospects of Gilgit-Baltistan with the support of the Italian Government. Present Stefano Pontecorvo, Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Babar Hayat Tarar, First Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Ignacio Artaza, National Director of UNDP Pakistan, Agostino Da Polenza, President of EvK2CNR, researchers, scientists and other guests
Ambassador Pontecorvo recalled the Italian support to the protected areas of Pakistan in particular for the CKNP – Central Karakoram National Park specifying that the Italian government will continue to support the region in eco-tourism and other sectors, also contributing to the ETI-IFAD project for agricultural development.
The First Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Babar Hayat Tarar, expressed his appreciation for the role and contribution of Italy and of EvK2CNR ensuring its support also for future interventions and suggesting that eco-tourism based on community, promoted by EvK2CNR and supported by Italy, can find synergies with the micro-credit that GB Government is providing to communities through the Ukhuwat foundation.

Agostino Da Polenza, who presented EvK2CNR publications, including the Glacier Cadastre of the Central Karakorum Park and the CKNP tourist guide, and spoke about the current and future EvK2CNR projects in Gilgit Baltistan with the support of the Italian Government .
Several experts – including Professor Ashiq Ahmad Khan, Dr. Franco Mari, Dr. Elisa Vilarmoz, Arch. Michele Locatelli, Mr. Riaz ul Hassan and Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb – have finally discussed in relation to what were the actions carried out in the reason, highlighting also the potential future objectives.
