Projects worth Rs100bn being completed in GB: Dr Iqbal
ISLAMABAD: Provincial Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr Muhammad Iqbal on Wednesday said projects worth Rs. 100 billion were being completed for improving the living standard of masses of this beautiful part of the region.
The focus was given to expand road network, construction of bridges and hotels, he said while talking to PTV.
Gilgit-Baltistan was rich in natural resources, while 50,000 mega watt electricity could be produced by utilizing the potential of the area, he added.
Commenting on China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, he said the CPEC would bring a revolution for the people of the country.
Under the CPEC, many projects including power were being completed to meet the demand of the country, he said.
To a question, he said Gilgit-Baltistan could earn a huge amount through tourism and for this, the focus had been given to improve the road, bridges and hotels infrastructure.
To another question, he said completion of road projects would help reduce the distance besides saving the precious time of people travelling from Gilgit to Islamabad.
